They're both very similar, and we can't decide between the two.
They are:
Madison Ann Martin
Madelyn Ann Martin
The middle name and its spelling aren't negotiable, it is after my sister.
In both cases, her nickname would be "Maddi".
Now, for the boy name...
Connor or Conner?
I like Connor, he likes Conner. I think it looks silly with an E.
Thank you!
Which one of these baby girl names is better and the best spelling of this boy name?
For the girls' name, I prefer Madelyn Ann Martin. Madelyn is a lot less common that Madison, so your daughter will be less likely to share her name with friends and classmates. Also, Madelyn/Madeline/Madeleine has been around for a lot longer, so it's likely to age better. I'm afraid Madison might sound very dated in 20 years (much like the way Jennifer and Amanda sound dated now). Madelyn, however, should retain its appeal for a long time. (My personal favorite spelling is Madeleine -- it looks so sophisticated and French!)
I agree with you on the spelling of Connor. The original spelling is with two O's. Conner looks misspelled. If you check the social security rankings, Connor is used almost four times as often is Conner. Because of that, people will be far more likely to guess Connor when trying to spell your son's name. Choosing the most standard spelling will save him a lot of hassle.
Good luck, and I hope this helps!
Reply:Madison is SO last year.
Madelyn is lovely,
But unless the name "Ann" has significance to you,
Find a better middle name.
"Ann" is the middle name to almost all the famales I know.
Try a grandmother's name, or your mother's, aunt's, sister's name, etc.
And Connor is the correct spelling,
But Conner works too...
And if you eventually DO go with the "er" version,
Maybe switch it to Konner instead.
?
Reply:I prefer Madelyn Ann for two reasons.
First, because Madison is extremely common.
Second because it flows better.
Madison is really cute, but Madelyn is much more classic - but both are beautiful names.
Connor most definitely!
I don't know why but I've always liked Connor better - it looks more symmetrical for some reason.
Reply:Connor. ConnEr means "one who cons".
I prefer Madelyn as a name overall. Madison is very popular these days (like Jennifer in the 90s), whereas Madelyn is more classic. I would pick one of the other spellings if it were me though. I prefer Madeline or Madeleine.
Reply:Definitely Madelyn!! they are both beautiful but i think that Madelyn is a little more unique! plus i think its wonderful you are naming your daughter after your sister! thats so sweet of you!!
oh and the boy name is Connor! =) or you could do like my brother and his wife and do Konnor.. but i dont like that as much as Connor!
hope i helped xxD
Reply:Madelyn, much more feminine, classic, and I think beautiful. Nobody did the "Madison" thing until after "Splash" and Madison was used as a joke in that movie. Maddi is cute
I prefer Connor. I agree about it looking silly w/ the "E".
Reply:Madelyn is so cute and much less common. The initials MAM are cute too.
Connor for sure! You are right the E looks odd and is incorrect. Plus if you use it the boy will have to correct people his whole life. I love the name Connor BTW. What's his middle name to be?
Great choices.
edit...Erin is correct, the word Conner means "one who cons"
Definately don't want to pin that on your baby boy!.
Lots of good answers for you tonight!
Reply:Hmm both of the girl names are nice...I really like Madelyn, but I might say Madison as it isn't as common.
I also agree with you with Connor. Something about Conner doesn't seem right to me. Oh and I love the name Connor, it's one of my favourites!
Good luck :)
Reply:I think Madison is a little overdone. I'd go with Madelyn.
As for the boy, I think either could work. You could make a deal, like you get to pick the girl's name from the two and he can pick the spelling of a boy's name. That could work.
Reply:I LOVE the name Madelyn but I would spell it Madeline, I like Madison also but I would spell it either Madisen or Madisyn. I would go with Madeline Ann Martin!
I think that Connor is a better looking spelling then Conner but that's just my opinion. ~I LOVE DEREK
EDIT: Why is everyone giving me a thumbs down!?
Reply:I like Madison Ann.... Madalyn Ann sorta sounds like LynAnn.
I've only seen Conner spelled with an e, and Connor sorta makes you wanna say Conn or instead of er, but that's just my opinion. I hope you get it figured out! Best of Luck!
Reply:Madeleine Ann, this spelling.
Madison is a boy's name and is masculine with it's meaning Son of Maude. Horrible for a pretty little daughter.
I agree, Connor with an e is silly.
Reply:i really love madison ann martin because it is super cute and sounds better with the middle name. and for the boy i think your right, it does look silly with the E so i would diffinately go with connor : )
Reply:I would have to say Madison Ann Martin but both names are cute and it was hard for me to actually pick one.
And for a boy I prefer Connor I have to agree with you that the E looks silly
Reply:The O makes the R say its name. Connor. I like Madelyn Ann, but I don't know about Martin? Oh I got a funny store about long names. Ok this kid I know is named William Andrew Lewis Nutt. We nicknamed him WAL-Nutt! LOL
Reply:Madelyn because it gives uniqueness. Madison is overdone.
Connor. Because conner looks weird like its supposed to be said with a hillbilly accent.
Reply:I like Madelyn, personally. but Madison goes better with Ann.
I prefer connor with the OR.
Reply:I like Madelyn Ann Martin..but they're both very cute.
I also like the name Connor, spelled just liked that.
Good luck! ")
EDIT: Yes, Madelyn Jenna would be cute too.
Reply:I like Madelyn Ann Martin better.
And I like Conner better.
Reply:I like Madelyn Ann and I like the spelling Connor.
Reply:Girl: Madison Ann Martin
Boy: I like it spelled the traditional way which is with the "O"
Reply:Madison Ann Martin flows better, but I like the name Madelyn just not with Ann. Maybe?...Madelyn Elisabeth Martin
Reply:I like Madelyn Ann best, but I prefer the spelling Madeleine.
And definitely Connor.
Reply:For the girl, I like Madelyn Ann Martin. And for the boy, I like the spelling Conner better.
Hope I helped!
Reply:Madelyn Ann Martin (Madison is a masculine name which means son of maddox). Connor looks like the more proper spelling.
Reply:Madison Ann flows better but i like the name Madelyn more... tricky
Connor for sure!!! your right, it looks silly with an E
Reply:I like both girls names but, I am partial to Madison. For the boy, I think Connor is the best way to spell it. Congrats!
Reply:My daughters name is Madelyn :o) and her nickname is spelled Maddie
