What do you think of boy name Rubin?

We are thinking of calling our son Rubin (or Ruben). What do you think of the name?

Hey, it's a great idea! My boyfriend is called Reuben and it's a lovely name. We call him Roo for short. BTW, we are in the UK and not Jewish either!
Reply:I think its a lovely name, not so often heard of these days but is not an "odd" name either if you know what I mean!?





I wanted to call my son Elijah, really loved the name - still do, but everyone else hated it so he ended up being Josh.
Reply:Rubin, Ruben, or Rueben is a lovely name.


Not wanting to put you off, my brother in laws dog is called Reben, and we all love him to bits!


Seriously, whatever name you chose for your child will be lovely.

Reply:um, maybe because of the people I know called those names but I don't like them, I think they are a bit chavvy (sorry) though if you live in a nice area where nobody will think that then they are quite nice names, it's just the association really.
Reply:It a Jewish name meaning "Behold a Son". It was popular in the early 20th century but has now fallen out of fashion in Europe and the USA. However, that should not put you off if it is family name or one that you like. Do your own thing!
Reply:Ruben is alright, you dont hear it very often so its nice to be a bit different without going to the extremes.

Reply:I think it's lovely (although maybe I'm biased as my name is Ruby). However, I much prefer the spelling Reuben.
