What do you think of this horrid, made up, trashy boy's name?

I saw this name in a magazine. An eight-year-old boy named Khyber. Absolutely horrible. His older sister who is twelve has a lovely name, Amira.





What do you think of the made up, trashy Khyber?

I've two new baby girl cousins...


One has the middle name of Moon (can't remember the first name, but it is feminine and pretty) - The other is named Elliot Nicole...


I am not sure what I will tell the mother of our newest moon child if she asks about the name - what can I say that is polite and true! As for Elliot, I will most likely not have to say anything about the name... but I still wonder "why!"





Khyber is horrible and makes me think of the term "cyber" - Amira is pretty and sweet however :)
Reply:Khyber is not a made up name. It comes from a very strategic and important pass in the Himalayas. Amira and Khyber are not names of Indian origin but of Islamic origin. You don't like the name is understandable but don't judge smthing that you have no idea about.
Reply:i love amira...for some reason ive always been partial to "a" names. i think khyber is a ridiculous name. i dont think boys should necessarily have more traditional names...but the name shouldnt be something that will get them teased and made fun of for the rest of their lives.

I don't like that name either but, I think you are being entirely too judgemental. That's their baby not yours and if that name was pleasing to the parents, that's all that matters.

Amira is gorgeous, however! I have a cousin named Emmira...pronounced the same way...I love that name!

Reply:Khyber sounds like one of those names that are in style now. Those names that parents intentionally spell strange and try to make "unique". Stupid if you ask me! I am so sick of these weird names.
