I'm Southern, and we traditionally will give at least one child a family name...(usually as a middle name)...such as the Mom's maiden name, a favorite Uncle or Grandfather...either their first or middle names...kind-of keeps the family tradition alive....for example, I have a nephew who got TWO family names as his name...Cooper Kennedy (and then his last name)...His Mom's maiden name (Cooper) his Dad's Grandmother's maiden name (Kennedy)....


I think, when naming a child, it should have SOME meaning behind it...(either as I said a family name..or at least a name you've always loved)....


Maybe it's just the "Southerner" in me...or, maybe it's the "traditionalist" in me...


I would want to name my children (I was never lucky enough to have my own) a name that had special meaning to me...

The spelling "Aarav" looks more pleasing to the eye, personally. I like the meaning but I think it sounds a little harsh as a first name. Possibly make it a middle if you have your heart set on it? It's certainly unique though
